Dr Trina Kellar

Gastroenterologist – Endoscopist – Motility and Functional GI Disorders

BScApp MBBS FRACP

Dr Trina Kellar is a NeuroGastroenterologist and endoscopist, with a subspecialty interest in the work-up and long-term management of lower GI dysmotility (chronic constipation, diarrhoea, incontinence), upper GI dysmotility (dysphagia, achalasia, gastroparesis), and all functional GI disorders (IBS, bloating, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, pain). She focuses on providing collaborative, non-judgemental, holistic care to all individuals at the highest level.

Trina recently established a NeuroGastroenterology Multidisciplinary Clinic at The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, participates fortnightly in an expert Melbourne-based PsychoGastroenterology multidisciplinary meeting, and is particularly passionate about improving the lives of individuals suffering from pelvic floor difficulties, chronic symptoms dismissed as IBS, and eating disorders. Endoscopy and colonoscopy are performed at the updated North West Private Hospital, only 15 minutes away.

Trina’s medical training spans three states. A BScApp with university medals was followed by an MBBS at The University of Sydney, and resident years at The Prince of Wales Hospital Sydney. She then returned to Brisbane for specialist training at The Princess Alexandra, Logan Base, Royal Brisbane, and Prince Charles Hospital including specialist training in oesophageal manometry and pH/impedance. Trina gained vast experience in complex NeuroGastroenterology and the gut-brain axis through an intensive post-graduate fellowship in Melbourne with both The Alfred Hospital complex functional GI disorders service, including training in anorectal physiology studies, and the Royal Melbourne Hospital NeuroGastroenterology service.

Trina believes that listening and empowering her patients to understand their symptoms leads to recovery, and chooses to work with her dedicated colleagues at the QLD Pelvic Floor Centre to achieve this goal.

From your most complex bowel concerns, to a simple endoscopy, Dr Trina Kellar looks forward to caring for your patients.
